The REALIZE project invites stakeholders to its final online conference on 9 February to explore how renewable energy technologies can successfully transition from R&D to large-scale market deployment.
Europe has made significant strides in renewable energy research. With initiatives like Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, it has funded thousands of innovative projects—from cutting-edge solar and wind to advanced storage and hydrogen solutions. But while Europe excels at generating innovation, turning that innovation into scaled, market-ready technologies remains a pressing challenge.
The leap from research and demonstration to industrial deployment is often blocked by fragmented financing, regulatory complexity, and gaps between innovation timelines and commercial investment cycles. This “valley of death” is where too many promising clean technologies stall.
To address this bottleneck, the European Union launched the REALIZE project, coordinated by Euro-Funding, to help bridge the gap between R&D and real-world deployment. Since 2023, REALIZE has worked closely with renewable energy technology developers to help them access the Innovation Fund (IF)– the EU’s flagship funding instrument for large-scale decarbonisation projects.
Over the past two years, REALIZE has offered hands-on support to a range of renewable energy stakeholders. The project has helped strengthen Innovation Fund applications by providing guidance on funding alignment, technology readiness, business models, and strategic fit with EU climate priorities. In the process, REALIZE has gathered valuable insight into what it takes to transform a promising technology into a fundable, scalable solution.
To disseminate these learnings and support the broader renewable energy ecosystem, REALIZE is organizing its final online conference, “Market-Readiness in Renewables: Enabling the Energy Transition in Europe,” on 9 February 2026, from 14:00 to 17:10 CET.
What can attendees expect?
The conference will present lessons learned from REALIZE’s work with project promoters, highlighting what works – and what doesn’t – when applying for the Innovation Fund. It will explore how to structure robust, bankable proposals, overcome technical and financial barriers, and align innovations with EU climate and industrial policy.
In addition, the event will feature a forward-looking agenda, covering upcoming tools like the Clean Industrial Deal and the European Competitiveness Fund, set to launch in 2028. Confirmed speakers include representatives from DG CLIMA, DG GROW, SolarPower Europe, EUREC, and the Green European Tech Fund. A panel discussion will bring together funders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss how to better connect EU innovation with real market outcomes.
Why attend?
Whether you’re a clean tech entrepreneur, consultant, policymaker, fund manager, or project lead – this conference is your opportunity to learn directly from the teams that are navigating this journey in real time. You’ll gain practical tools, hear real case studies, and connect with experts shaping the next phase of EU energy funding.
Participation is free upon registration.
