Property tax (IBI)<\/strong> is a compulsory tax for any property owner in Spain. This local tax is managed jointly by the Ministry of Finance and the local councils<\/strong> where the property is located.<\/p>

However, not only the local councils can demand IBI, but also the metropolitan areas can ask for a surcharge<\/strong>, powers that generate important differences in a property of similar characteristics depending on where it is located.<\/p>
