Eurostars<\/span><\/a> helps innovative SMEs and their project partners including big companies, universities, research groups, and others to work on exciting new projects. By taking part in <\/span>Eurostars<\/span>, organizations can get public funding to help them with international collaborative R&D projects<\/a> in all sorts of fields.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Eurostars<\/span> projects can be in any technological field<\/strong><\/span>, but the areas that have received the most funding are biotechnology (35%); electronics, IT, and telecom technologies (23%); industrial manufacturing, materials, and transport (17%); and energy and environmental protection technologies (11%). <\/span>These projects often include a strong focus on bringing a product or service to market <\/span><\/span>Within two years after project completion.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Eurostars<\/span> is a truly global initiative, open to organizations from up to 37 European countries<\/strong><\/span> that are part of the EUREKA network. Since 2016, Canada and South Africa have also joined the <\/span>Eurostars<\/span> family, making it even more diverse and impactful. The funding itself is managed by each country’s own National Funding Agencies, so the specifics might vary a bit depending on where an organization is based.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Prior to application submission, it is essential to verify funding availability with the relevant National Contact Point (NCP), as funding allocations may vary by country for each call. When it comes to the projects themselves, <\/span>Eurostars<\/span><\/a> seeks proposals that <\/span>demonstrate<\/span> genuine innovation and push technological boundaries. Projects should <\/span>exhibit<\/span> technical disruptiveness, offering significant advancements over existing solutions. A clear pathway to market is also essential. <\/span>Eurostars<\/span> prioritizes projects with realistic commercial launch potential within two years of completion. This typically implies projects at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 4-6, <\/span>indicating<\/span> a stage beyond initial research and into serious development and testing. The application window for R&D and innovation projects<\/a> spans from January 10, 2025, to March 13, 2025, at 14:00 (Brussels time). While an innovative SME must assume the leading role within the project consortium, other types of <\/span>organizations, such as large companies, universities, and research organizations, are encouraged to <\/span>participate<\/span> and contribute their unique strengths.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

  1. T<\/span>he<\/span> project must be led by an innovative SME from a <\/span>Eurostars<\/span> country;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  2. T<\/span>he<\/span> consortium must include at least two independent entities from different <\/span>Eurostars<\/span> countries, with at least one from an EU<\/a> or Horizon Europe<\/a> Associated <\/span>Country;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  3. The<\/span> project can be from any technological and market areas<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  4. The<\/span> budget of SMEs from <\/span>Eurostars<\/span> countries must be at least 50% of the total project <\/span>budget;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  5. N<\/span>o<\/span> single participant or country can <\/span>be responsible for<\/span> more than 70% of the total project <\/span>budget;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  6. The<\/span> project duration must be 36 months or <\/span>less;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
